How to explain SaaS pricing so AI distinguishes monthly billing from annual plans

A monthly price may mean a payment collected every month or the monthly equivalent of an annual upfront payment. These offers have different payment schedules and commitments. This guide explains billing clearly on a SaaS pricing page; it does not rank the cheapest tools.

1. Confirm the offer before editing the wording

For each plan, collect its name, currency, billing unit, actual payment amount, payment frequency and commitment period. Add limits, minimum users if relevant, add-ons and how tax is displayed. Confirm the details with the pricing owner instead of inferring terms from “per month”.

Describe payment frequency separately from commitment. An annual agreement may use monthly instalments, while a monthly amount on a page may simply divide an annual price. Link renewal and cancellation information to the current offer terms.

2. Show the distinction with a simple example

All amounts and terms below are fictional. They are not Semly prices or another provider’s offer.

Option Actual payment Period Clear description
Monthly 100 EUR each month One month 100 EUR per month, collected monthly
Annual upfront 960 EUR paid once for the year Twelve months 960 EUR annually, paid upfront; equivalent to 80 EUR per month

“80 EUR/month” omits the essential conditions of the second option. Display 960 EUR and annual upfront payment next to the equivalent monthly amount. The example does not specify tax treatment; a real pricing page must clarify it.

3. Explain the billing unit, limits and add-ons

A price without a unit may be incomplete: it could cover an account, user, project or package. State what is included and what changes the amount payable. For a bespoke offer, explain how to obtain a quote rather than implying a fixed price.

One-plan wording template

“[Plan] costs [amount and currency] per [unit]. We collect [amount] every [frequency]. The commitment is [period]. The price [tax treatment]. Included: [limits]. Additional charges: [items and conditions]. Effective from [date]; renewal and cancellation details: [terms URL].”

4. Keep descriptions consistent

Check the pricing page, FAQ, plan pages, comparison articles and help material. Correct contradictory amounts and outdated terms. Do not reproduce the whole price list in every article: provide brief context and a link to the main source. Record the update date and responsible owner.

5. Test interpretation

Ask AI: “How much do I pay today for the annual plan?”, “Does this monthly figure require an annual payment?” and “What unit and limits does the price include?”. Record question, date, model, answer and sources. Check payment amount, currency, unit, period and tax treatment separately.

“80 EUR per month” is incomplete if it omits the example’s annual upfront payment of 960 EUR. Missing information differs from an explicit contradiction. Classify the result as accurate, incorrect, incomplete or unresolved, then identify the field needing correction.

Semly provides AI answers and source inspection. The offer owner verifies prices and terms. Repeat the same questions after editing the page; publishing an update does not determine when an external model changes its answer.

Pre-publication checklist

  • The actual payment appears beside any monthly equivalent.
  • Payment frequency and commitment are separate.
  • Currency, unit, tax, limits and add-ons are explicit.
  • Renewal terms have a current source.
  • Outdated references lead to the correct pricing page.
